Do you know what 'minor planets' or 'planetoids' are? They are millions of rock-metal fragments that form a broad belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.
Also known as asteroids these celestial bodies have their own orbits.Early astronomers thought they were remains of dead planet.But this has now been proved false.It is now seen that even if all asteroids are put together, the resultant mass would be smaller than moon.
Asteroids are composed of nickel,iron,and stone and they are irregular in shape and size. Some asteroids are molded into spheres because of their great gravitational force. Some opf them are contain large amount of carbon. Corse is the largest known asteroid.
