Memories of my mother-part-1

When I describe about my mother you may feel like she is  like your own mother. Yes most of the mothers are same type. Mothers may be different on doing roles other than doing mother role but doing on mother role ?

She carried meshoulder in her like a kankaroo even when I was five years old.All of the people in our street will yell her like “hey,he is getting old enough to walk, make him walk”. She will not care about their words.
When I was studying in mangayarkarasi higher secondary school (Madurai) up to eight standard she will carry my school bag and will walk with me to school on morning and evening.

After I went to ninth standard even though I carried my school bag and went to school alone with out my mother  her eyes will be only on the clock on every evening . if it was getting even five minutes late she will get afraid.

As we were lower middle class family I can still remember the day when she talk with me “we are all poor. Education only will help us”. I think it might be when I was five or six years old. Her words strongly recorded in my mind.

She gave respect to discipline. It was one day when I returned from school I went outside for buying chocolate. Mean time she checked my bag and found  two geometry boxes. In one of  geometry bag there was 30 rupees(it was 1986 and rupees 30 is  bus charge per month received from the studentby the school .) when I returned from shop she enquired me about it. I understood thst by mistaklenly I took another student’s box
.
She ordered me the first thing I should do is to hand over the geometry to the headmaster of the school.
She will not order any thing from me . all the thing going to store, washing clothes have been managed by her. She took care about how we should grown. My father never care about ours growning. even when I took poor marks in exam she will only scold me for it .our father will simply told that don’t said any thing to our child .he will take good marks in next exam” .

Even I finished polytechnic and joined apprentice in TNEB,  one day It was getting half-an-hour late .she sent my father to enquire about it.

After finishing tneb apperentice I was a psychiatrist patient for some years. on those days on evening time  she and me will go to all temples in the nearby area daily.

Sometimes(not all the times) my father will buy snacks. She divides into all of our family members. But she will give me her  share to me. And ahe will not eat anything.

“I don’t like these type of struffs”

It is the reason tells by her. But I know she sacrifices it for me.

There is no habit of purchasing book in our family and close relations. And most of my relatives hadn’t studied  good.

When I was studied in 9th standard we noticed the advertisement in a newspaper (January 1987) that ponniyin selvan written by kalki going to be republished.

That time kalki’s price was rs 1.50. daily my mother gave 35 paisa to buy  éclairs chocolate. By sacrificing éclairs I bought kalki. My mother encourages us to buying and reading books. Within few weeks there was an advertisement on kumudam that sandilyan’s mannan makal was going to be republished. By saving from my sisters daily pocket money(daily just two rupees)we  bought kumudam also.

I not only liked ponniyin selvan  I also liked other stories and articles in kalki. When ever my father went to relations he will proudly say “muthu is a kalki reader”.

We knew very much my mother how struggled for daily bus charge  for me and my sister.
